On Sunday 4th June 2023, we at CVCC – members and volunteers – completed a paddle around the meanders of the SDNP (South Downs National Park) to complete a big rubbish clean up in the area.
This was a very important day. Not only did we physically pick up litter from the bankside and in the meanders tributaries, but we also came together to learn about the impact of rubbish and plastics on our local paddling area. Within a few hours, eight large sacks of rubbish was gathered, which was an incredible achievement by all who participated. This shows how much rubbish is created, and the need to inform and educate all who use this beautiful National Park about the importance of disposing of rubbish while here.
A massive thank you to all: Karen for recycling facts and stats, the support canoe teams, and all members who helped.
