Cardington White Water Trip 2023 – CVCC members
Friday 26th May to Monday 29th May 2023
The Cardington White Water course in Bedford has been hired out by Addlestone Canoe Club again this year. It is an excellent course for paddlers to have a go at a low level white water in safe conditions. All crafts are allowed on the course, from kayaks and sit-on-tops as well as fun sessions where you can use inflatables, rubber rings, flamingos, etc.
This weekend is ideal for families & those wishing to take their first steps on moving water. You can come for the day, or the whole weekend.
CAMPING IS AVAILABLE FOR THE WHOLE WEEKEND (including non-paddling family members) or there is a Premier Inn nearby. Please note that there are no washing or shower facilities onsite.
For non-member family and friends it is ideally located with lots to do and explore around the park and Bedford.
THE WEEKEND IS RUN BY VOLUNTEERS AND ONLY HAPPENS WITH YOUR HELP. WE WILL NEED HELP TO START SETTING UP THE WHITE WATER COURSE AND IT’S FEATURES BEFORE PADDLING ON THE COURSE CAN START – many hands make light work!
Please bring your own Camping Equipment. Food is available but prior booking in advance is required. If you have any special dietary requirements please bring your own food, but feel free to join in.
On the FRIDAY NIGHT some people will eat in the Pub [Beefeater prior booking required], please indicate on the booking tickets below if you are interested and we will do our best to book a table.
FEE Options:
1. £6 per night Camping
2. £10 per person per day or part paddling Saturday, Sunday, Monday.
3. £4 per person/per day Breakfast (inc cereal, fruit juice, cooked breakfast).
4. £4 per person/per day Lunch (sandwiches/cold meats, salad, squash, boxed drinks, tea/coffee, chocolate and snacks.
5. £8 Communal Barbecue/Hot Meal (on Saturday and/or Sunday evening)
6. £15 on the day for paddling only – if not pre-booked before 17th May 2023 (no cash payments on the day)
7. These events only happen with volunteers, please add a free ticket to your basket to indicate that you are able to help with either the set up or clearing away after the event – thank you 🙂
Approximate proposed timetable for sessions subject to demand and numbers:
Friday: Afternoon from about 12noon – 7pm ish
Helpers / volunteers to help course set up & sorting camping welcome.
Supper in Beefeater Pub by Marina / Premier Inn 7:00-7.30pm ish to 10pm
Saturday Morning: Complete course set up and pick up Tesco shop 10am to 1pm
Afternoon: Fun / Challenges / Practice Session in boats (approx 2pm to 4pm or after course completed)
And further fun paddling 4:30pm ish till 6pm
Evening: BBQ or other supper 7.00pm
Sunday Morning: Training Session 10am to 1pm
Afternoon: Fun / Challenges / Practice Session in boats (approx 2pm to 4pm)
And further fun paddling 4pm ish till 6pm
Evening: BBQ or other supper 7.00pm
Monday Morning: Training Session
Afternoon: Fun / Challenges / Practice Session in boats approx 2pm to 3.15pm

Clear up course and camp: helpers needed 4.30pm – 6 pm approx.
Location:
The course is situated at the south east of Bedford’s Priory Country Park and is accessed via Stannard Way (part of Priory Business Park) which is just off Bedford’s A421 southern bypass. Follow Stannard Way until you see a left turn with a brown sign to Priory Country Park.
The course is just 2.5 km downstream from Bedford town centre and about 4km from Bedford’s Viking Kayak Club.
