Exciting weekend trip to the River Dart for white water action.

Spaces are limited so please reserve your place as soon as possible.

The Dart is Class 2/3 so paddlers must have some relevant experience for this trip – either having been on the Dart before or having been to the Cardiff or Lee Valley white water centres and be able to ferry glide and break in and out of the current, so that you can control your kayak going down the river. For example, if you have passed the Legacy Assessment at Lee Valley this would definitely be a suitable skill level.

Class 3 water is for intermediate paddlers. You will experience rapids with moderate, irregular waves requiring complex manoeuvres in fast current and good boat control in tight passages or around ledges. Large waves or strainers may be present but are easily avoided. Strong eddies and powerful current effects can be found, particularly on large-volume rivers. Self-rescue is usually easy but group assistance may be required to avoid long swims.

If you are unsure whether your skill level is right for this trip, please contact Steve Douch for advice. steve@cvcc.org.uk

Accommodation costs £50 for two nights in a mixed dormitory at River Dart Country Park. https://riverdart.co.uk/  Cooked breakfast is available at extra cost, along with evening meals and drinks from the onsite bar.
