We have hired the Legacy Course for our exclusive use for this session. We will be joined by folks from Hastings District Canoe Club, WhiteWater Action Medway and Martletts.
We’ve also booked professional Coach, Sam Wilson for the session, who will be able to give advice and tips. Sam has been kayaking since 2008 and coaching since 2016. He’s been competing internationally since 2014, including competing for Team GB. He competes in 3 different disciplines, Kayak 1 (K1), Canoe 1 (C1) and Squirt Boating. In 2019 Sam won a Bronze medal Squirt Boating in the World Championships and recently he won the 2023 Euro Cup Squirt Boating.
Please book your place using the booking form below. Cost is £17.
N.B. HDCC, WAM and Martlett members should select a non-members ticket and use the DISCOUNT CODE you have been given by your club to make sure you get the same price as CVCC members.
Experience the Thrill of White Water: As this is a private hire, you do not need to have completed the assessment to be able to paddle the course. This is a great course for paddlers wanting to improve their skills, move from flat water to white water, or practice the skills required for the Olympic course. Spectators and on the bank support will be welcome to join us (no charge to spectators & on the bank support.)
Lee Valley White Water Centre: The centre was built for the London 2012 Olympic Games, operating as a community resource in the lead up to – and following – the event. The centre contains a 300m Olympic canoe slalom course, and a 160m intermediate course. The Legacy Loop, which we will be using, is a 160-metre-long grade 3 rapid with a drop of 1.6 meters in height. This rapid is fed by three pumps supplying 10,500 litres of water per second.
Expert Guidance: The Legacy Loop offers a dynamic environment which replicates Grade Two Whitewater features suitable for all levels. If you are a regular to the annual Cardington or the Nene, this is the next step up in white water. This is suitable for paddlers comfortable in the moving water. Intermediate paddler will find less technical areas to build confidence, while experienced paddlers can tackle more challenging features to push their limits. We will be providing bank safety within our group of paddlers as well as on the water advice and coaching throughout the session, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants. Learn new techniques, conquer obstacles, and unleash your paddling potential.
Parking Information: Ample parking is available on-site, but please remember to sign your car in at the visitor centre to avoid parking fees.
Equipment: You will need a suitable boat, spray deck, buoyancy aid, helmet and paddle. If you would like to borrow a club boat / equipment, please send an email, with a minimum of 10 days’ notice to equipment@cvcc.org.uk. The email should include what boat and equipment you are asking to borrow, for what purpose and for how long.
