This is the annual paddle on one of the prittiest whitewater rivers in England. We will be staying at the Dartmoor Country Park where I have twelve beds dorms booked in dormatory type accomodation. The cost of £80 includes two nights accomodation and two hearty breakfasts along with access to sections of the river others do not have. We launch at Newbridge and paddle through the various features down to the country park where we walk back up to the centre.
There is a bar and food available onsite at The Sawmill, where we eat on the Friday, and on the Saturday we normally eat at the Plume of Feathers at Poundsgate a short drive away.
Being November, you will need warm clothing to paddle in – ideally a dry cag and either wetsuit bottoms or dry trousers. A full drysuit is perfect but costly! Bring plenty of base layers. Also bring river snacks to eat at a break on the river, normally at the Lovers Leap rapid.
I already have my passengers so you will need to team up with others to sort transport. We will need to run a shuttle on the morning so drivers be warned.
The Dart (Middle Loop sesction) comprises of flat moving water sections, with faster grade 2 rapids and features in between. There is only one continuous rapid leading up to Lovers Leap, which needs caution.
I as a whitewater coach will lead/supervise the trip and along with some other solid whitewater paddlers will ensure we paddle safely. As with all river trips, water levels cannot be guaranteed, so there if ls a chance of too much or no rain, we will have to consider other options, including not paddling to ensure safety.
Any questions please ask,
Steve
