🛶🌿 CVCC’s Annual Wye Valley Adventure 🌿🛶

An Unmissable Weekend for All Ages – 2025 Dates – 24/07/25-27/04/25

Whether you’re looking for a peaceful paddle with your family or a fun-filled escape in a field with fellow paddlers, our annual Wye Valley trip has it all! This much-loved event is suitable for all ages and abilities — and it always sells out, so don’t miss your chance to join in.

🏕️ Where We’re Staying

We’ve reserved a number of camping and glamping options at the beautiful Lucksall Caravan & Camping Park, set in their lovely Long Meadow area.

Accommodation Options:

  • Grass pitches for tents

  • Hook-up grass pitches for campervans

  • Fully serviced hard-standing caravan pitches

  • Glamping pods (Double-bed or 4-bed options)

You can stay Friday–Sunday or extend your trip to include Thursday and/or Monday.

🎪 Book directly with Lucksall, quoting CVCC – Cuckmere when reserving your pitch or pod.

🛶 The Big Paddle – Saturday

On Saturday, we’ll be paddling from Kerne Bridge to Monmouth, covering approx. 14.5 miles. This stunning stretch includes the famous Symonds Yat rapids.

🕗 Meet at Monmouth Canoes by 8:15am, where transport will be provided to Kerne Bridge. We’ll return to Monmouth around 4pm.

🌯 Bring: lunch, snacks, and plenty of water.
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 All skill levels welcome — if you’ve never paddled before, this is the perfect introduction! We’ll pair beginners into two-boat rafts or mix paddlers to support you on the rapids.

🚣‍♂️ Canoe & Transport Booking

You can:

  • Hire a canoe (2, 3-person, or family canoes):

    • £35 per adult

    • £25 per child (under 18)

  • Bring your own craft (kayak, SUP, canoe)

    • Minibus lift to Kerne Bridge: £10 (cash on the day; limited availability, must pre-book)

🗓️ Friday & Sunday Activities

  • Friday – Kayak play session at Symonds Yat

  • Sunday – Optional paddle near the campsite or local walks

  • Walks & socials – Updates and meet-up info will be shared via WhatsApp closer to the trip

👪 All Welcome

This is a family-friendly event, open to all members and their friends/families. Whether you’re camping, glamping or just joining for the paddle, there’s a place for everyone.

🛶 Club Equipment Loans for Members

Don’t have your own gear? CVCC offers equipment loans for members on club-led trips. Email equipment@cvcc.org.uk at least 10 days in advance and include:

  • What boat or kit you need

  • The purpose (e.g. Wye trip)

  • How long you need it for

⚠️ Please note: Club kit can’t be loaned for non-club events due to insurance limitations.
